| Appointments
Telephone the surgery 01248 370900 or call at reception. We
have some pre-bookable appointments but the majority need to be
booked the day you need to be seen.
You will, where possible, be offered a doctor of your choice, but if
all appointments for that day have been taken you will either be
asked to phone back the following morning, or in the cases of
urgency will be contacted by the on-call doctor who will decide
whether or not you need to be seen that day.
Our appointment system is computerised and all
appointments are for a minimum of 10 minutes. If you think you may
need a longer appointment
please inform the receptionist when booking in order that more time
can be allocated.
If you are unable to keep an appointment, for whatever reason,
please let us know in order that we can offer the appointment to
another patient.
Registered patients aged over 75 who have not been seen in the
previous 12 months may request a consultation. If you are unable to
attend the surgery for a consultation because of your medical
condition, a home visit may be arranged.
Registered patients aged 16-24 who have not been seen for three
years may request a consultation.
Appointment System - Express Service
We have introduced a change to our appointment system in order to
streamline our service.
The introduction of the Express Service is fully supported by all
the Doctors and staff at Bron Derw.
When you request an appointment you will be asked a series of
questions which will ensure that you see the most appropriate member
of the clinical team.
Express appointments are available daily for single, uncomplicated
problems such as sore throats, earache, and rashes.
When you telephone for an appointment we would be grateful if you
would provide the receptionist with brief details of your problem so
that you can be offered an appointment with the most appropriate
member of our team. Sometimes this will be with our Nurse Clinician
or a Doctor, but your wishes will be respected, where possible.
If you need to see a named doctor we will try to offer you an
appointment on the day that you phone the surgery, but as patients
are now registered with the practice rather than with an individual
doctor, it may not always be possible for you to see your preferred
doctor.
We do have some appointments that can be booked in advance for
ongoing problems.
We try to run to time as far as possible, but inevitably an
appointment can run over time, so please bear with us if you have to
wait.
To keep surgeries running as smoothly as possible, please remember
the following points:
• Please arrive on time for your appointment and allow time
to park your car
• Please let us know if you cannot keep your appointment
• Please don’t “squeeze in” other people to your slot
• Please let us know if you need more than the allocated 10
minutes so that we can give you a longer appointment
